Using Samovars
The samovar is a utensil that allows you to boil tea water.
The samovar, intimately linked to the tea ritual for centuries in Russian and Middle Eastern culture, in Armenia as well as in India, expresses the quintessence of what can be obtained from tea.
It makes it possible to obtain high quality tea at any time of the day, always ready.
The lower part of the samovar allows to boil water; the upper part, the teapot, allows to obtain a tea concentrate which is served by diluting it with the boiled water, thanks to the tap in the lower part. Placed on the samovar, the small teapot with the tea extract keeps the tea warm. Thus, the samovar allows each user to obtain a concentrated tea according to his or her desires.
BEEM has been a manufacturer and supplier of samovars for more than 40 years.
BEEM gives great importance to the manufacturing quality of its samovars, whether they are traditional, design, contemporary or avant-garde.

Designed for the preparation of tea, the samovar can also be used for the preparation of herbal, fruit and spice teas.
How the samovar works
The water tank is a large cylindrical container that holds the water to be heated. The tap at the bottom of the tank allows hot water to be poured in.
When the water is hot, it can be poured out of the tap. Traditionally, tea is prepared in concentrate in a small teapot placed on top of the samovar. This concentrate is then mixed with the hot water to make tea.
In an old samovar, the water tank has a metal tube in the middle that acts as a chimney for the fuel. The firebox, located at the base of the central tube, contains the fuel (usually coal, wood or pine cones). A small chimney at the top of the samovar removes the smoke and gases produced by combustion. A small chimney at the top of the samovar allows the smoke and gases produced by combustion to escape. The fuel is placed in the firebox at the bottom of the central tube. The central tube acts as a chimney, allowing air to circulate and keeping the fire burning. The heat from the fire in the central tube heats the water surrounding the tube in the tank. By adjusting the amount of fuel or the opening of the chimney, the temperature of the water can be controlled.
Advice for use
- Put the quantity of fresh water in the kettle without exceeding the maximum level.
- Put the tea leaves in the tea strainer (about 1 tsp / cup) or the tea bags (without strainer, about 1 bag for 1 to 2 cups). Professionals make tea with exactly 2.86 g of tea per cup!
- Put the lid on the kettle and the teapot.
- Make sure that the on/off switch is off. To do this, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it stops. Then plug the samovar into the socket.
- Switch on the samovar, the switch should light up.
- The thermostat allows you to adjust the water temperature continuously with 4 choices of the following settings: boiling water, interval boiling water, very hot water, hot water.
- Turn the knob to maximum so that the water starts boiling quickly. To prevent uninterrupted boiling, once the water is boiling, turn the knob in the opposite direction until the blue indicator light goes out. The thermostat will only turn on and heat up again if the water temperature drops. In this way, the thermostat regulates the power supply as needed, saving energy. The indicator light comes on and off automatically at the same rate as the thermostat.
- To switch the samovar off completely, activate the on/off switch. The indicator light on the switch goes out.
- If you forget to add water, a safety switch turns off the heater periodically. This function is indicated by the flashing red indicator light. Please note that even if the red indicator light has been flashing for some time, the unit is still very hot!
- To switch the samovar back on, first switch it off completely. Turn the knob counter-clockwise as far as it will go and activate the on/off switch. Fill the hot water tank carefully with water. Caution, boiling water may escape. Let the appliance to cool down for a few minutes.
- Be sure to switch off the appliance to allow it to cool.
- On start-up, as soon as the blue indicator light comes on, the unit is ready to use again. For safety reasons, unplug the unit after each use. The steam rising in the water tank keeps the tea in the teapot at the right temperature it needs to brew. Once the desired brewing time has elapsed, remove the tea strainer from the teapot. Then pour the concentrate obtained into your tea glass (in the desired quantity) and fill it by adding water from the water tank. This way, the concentration and taste of your tea can vary. Leave the teapot on the water tank as long as the appliance is switched on, so that you can refill your tea or water at any time.
