What is GN 1 1?
Gastronorm GN 1 1 or GN 1/1 is a type of Gastronorm container used in catering and professional kitchens for storing, preparing, cooking, refrigerating and presenting food:
- Gastro: short for Gastronorm, a standardised system of containers used in professional kitchens for storing, preparing, cooking, refrigerating and presenting food.
- GN: means Gastronorm
- 1/1: indicates the size of the container. A GN 1/1 container is the standard reference size and measures 53 x 32.5 cm or 530 x 325 mm.
Gastronorm containers come in different sizes, often expressed as fractions of a GN 1/1 size. For example, a GN 1/2 container is half the size of a GN 1/1 container.
