How much does a cold buffet cost per person?
The price of a cold buffet per person can vary considerably depending on a number of factors. In general, a basic cold buffet, excluding alcohol, will cost between €15 and €30 per person in the cheapest regions, and up to €50 or more per person in the most expensive locations or for the most luxurious cold buffets. That's why you should get detailed quotes from local caterers to get an accurate estimate based on your needs.
Top caterers will generally charge more than smaller caterers. A buffet with more expensive ingredients and meals, such as seafood or fine meats, will be more expensive. Often the price per person can decrease as the number of guests increases due to economies of scale. Some caterers include drinks, desserts or additional services in the price per person.
What is a cold buffet?
A cold buffet is a presentation of different meals served cold and arranged so that customers or guests can help themselves. A cold buffet is designed to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing, allowing guests to enjoy a wide variety of meals while promoting a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Here's what a cold buffet usually looks like:
- Layout and presentation: the meals are laid out on one or more long tables, decorated with pretty tablecloths, floral elements or themes, and each meal is accompanied by a label with its name and, where possible, its main ingredients, which is very useful for people with allergies or dietary restrictions. Place the plates, cutlery and napkins at one end of the table. Don't forget to place serving tongs and spoons next to each meals to make serving easier.
- Types of meals: You can offer canapés, small glasses, mini-quiches and bouchées à la reine, pasta salads, rice salads, green salads or salads with different fillings, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, prawns, cold roast meats. Don't forget the bread, butter, sauces and condiments. Cakes, pies, fruit salads and fresh cheeses with fruit for dessert. For drinks, water, fruit juices, soft drinks, wine and other spirits if you wish.
Remember to replenish the dishes regularly, keep them at the correct temperature and keep the tables clean by regularly removing used plates and cutlery throughout the buffet.
