How do I clean aluminium pans?

Posted on01/04/2024

Cleaning aluminium pans is fairly straightforward.

Here are a few steps to follow to effectively clean your aluminium cookware:

Initial cooling: Wait until the pan has cooled down after cooking. Avoid starting to clean the pan immediately after use, as the aluminium can be very hot.

Remove the residue: empty the pot of any food residue and remove as much of the residue stuck to the inside of the pot as possible.

Soaking: Fill the pot with hot water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Leave to soak for a while to soften the food residue.

Use a non-abrasive sponge or brush: Do not use a scouring pad or abrasive sponge to scrub the surface of the pot to remove residues.

Use backing soda: if the pot has stubborn stains or marks, you can make a paste by mixing bicarbonate of soda and water and apply to the areas to be cleaned; rub gently, then rinse thoroughly.

Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the pot thoroughly with hot water to remove any detergent or baking soda residue.

Drying: After rinsing, dry the pot with a clean cloth to avoid water stains.

Regular maintenance: To prevent the build-up of hard-to-remove stains, systematically clean the pot after each use, following the steps below.

As you can see, it's important to avoid using abrasive cleaners or hard materials that could damage the surface of the aluminium pot. By following these steps, you can keep your aluminium cookware clean and in good condition.
